*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs all responsibilities of the Mechanic II and III roles. In addition to Mechanic II and III responsibilities, performs maintenance on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and steam control, and related building systems equipment. Inspects, operates, repairs, and maintains electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment and systems common to institutional and residential facilities including lights, receptacles, circuit breakers, motors, switches, and alarms; pumps, valves, fans, compressors, HVAC systems heaters, tanks, emergency generators and similar equipment; expansion tanks, sinks, commodes, hot and cold water systems, circulating pumps and air vents, respectively. Operates various electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment and systems to diagnose and maintain systems. Conducts surveys and inventories of specific equipment by gathering and recording information as requested. Assesses developmental needs of staff and provides training as needed. Proactively acts as a resource to customers and staff for questions and issues. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma and four years of experience in building maintenance, including one year in a lead role OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Hands on proficiency with commercial HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and general carpentry. Working knowledge of computer or mobile applications. Ability to conduct hands-on training for others. Has successfully completed advanced Training for Fire Response and maintains active certification. External candidates will be expected to obtain certification within 6 months of employment. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record. Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, climb a ladder, and walk for distances up to one mile.
