*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

THE HR SPECIALIST COORDINATES NEW HIRE WELCOME SESSIONS AND PROVIDES ASSISTANCE FOR H1B VISAS FOR STAFF AND FACULTY.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
New Hire Welcome Session
Maintains scheduling of ongoing New Hire Welcome Session (NHWS) for incoming faculty and staff
Acts as a liaison for new hires, managers and facilitators to ensure communication and logistics are handled in a timely manner.
Coordinates catering orders and ensures supplies are available for NHWS
Ensures documentation is printed and assembled for NHWS
Reserves appropriate space for sessions and ensures set up/break down room
Coordinates NHWS parking with the Parking and Transportation Office
Acts as a contact for updates to the NHWS presentation
Works with the Emory Card office and Ricoh Courier Service to create and distribute Emory Card to NHWS attendees
Responds to inquiries regarding orientation logistics from managers, attendees and central HR staff
Administer NHWS satisfaction surveys and disseminate results for HR Data Services
Works closely with HR Data Services to ensure NHWS runs effectively and efficiently
H1B Process
Acts as the coordinator for H1B visas requested on behalf of Emory University
Reviews H1B sponsorship E-form and Actual Wage Worksheet to ensure accuracy and completeness
Works with the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office and relevant departments to ensure documents are received in a timely manner
Completes the in house prevailing wage determination for approved Labor Condition Applications
Submits prevailing wage request to National Prevailing Wage Center for appropriate occupations
Creates and sends 10-Days posting notices to the departments to be posted at designated worksites Assists with departmental needs and questions related to the H1-b process
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of college coursework and and three years of human resource experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and office equipment operations. Exceptional communication and customer service skills. |
