JOB DESCRIPTION: **This is a central university office position** Implements, maintains and analyzes security infrastructure including Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Anomaly Detection Systems (ADS), firewall rule bases, Virtual Private Network (VPN), two factor authentication, SSL certificates, vulnerability assessment and network registration. Performs incident response, forensics and security procedures. Provides enterprise security subject matter expertise to UTS management, users and other UTS teams. Supports Information Technology projects to ensure data sources and network entry points remain secure and network service disruptions are minimized. Develops security architecture designs and plans to increase security, meet future needs and to remain current with technology. Evaluates, implements and manages firewall rules to maintain network core security and to protect system information. Evaluates, implements and manages VPN systems to provide secure remote access and to ensure authorized usage. Evaluates, implements and manages two factor authentication systems to provide protection for sensitive information systems. Evaluates, implements and manages IPS, ADS and network registration systems to provide active network intrusion protection, locate compromised computers and to ensure systems in the residential network meet minimum security requirements and provide user accountability. Monitors IPS, ADS, firewall logs and system logs to detect and identify systems and malicious traffic. Implements firewall blocks and IPS blocks and initiates port level blocks to limit infected computer connectivity and to reduce and remove the impact on the Emory network. Evaluates network infrastructure components to identify network design vulnerabilities. Reviews application security to identify applications flaws which permit application layer attacks. Maintains enterprise scanning infrastructure to facilitate network, system and application-based scanning across network cores. Creates and initiates network, system and application-level scanning to identify vulnerabilities within Emory Enterprise assets and cores. Acts as a project team security subject matter expert to provide guidance and assistance with new system and application implementation and to ensure enterprise security policy compliance. Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in IT or related field and three years of relevant IT experience which includes security analyst/support, firewall and intrusion detection technologies, project management, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. A working knowledge of TCP/IP and networking technologies and experience with the development and interpretation of security policies. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
