*This is an Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid a salary on a monthly basis and are not eligible to receive overtime pay.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Facilitates and provides pastoral and spiritual care and counseling for a designated area or for a clinical service. Plans and conducts religious services. May provide consultation on ethical issues. May provide individual and group counseling sessions and crisis intervention. May develop and facilitate various support groups. Participates in or chairs committees. Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating established programs, policies and procedures. Assesses and identifies areas for program development and assists in establishing new initiatives. Writes and publishes in professional journals. May teach or lecture by invitation. Prepares and conducts workshops and discussion groups on topics related to pastoral care. Hospital based positions may participate in patient treatment plans and multi-disciplinary rounds. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A master's of divinity degree. Ordination or endorsement by an acknowledged ecclesiastical body. Two years of experience in ministry with demonstrated competence in pastoral care. Hospital based positions require previous health care experience in the appropriate pastoral care area (i.e. mental health, geriatrics, pediatrics) and may require certification by one or more certifying agencies. Hospital based positions also require four or more units of clinical pastoral education.
