*This is an Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid a salary on a monthly basis and are not eligible to receive overtime pay.

JOB DESCRIPTION: * This position is located in the central Office of Sponsored Programs * Provides assistance to faculty and staff in reviewing all types of proposals for contractual awards with varying complexity. Reviews contractual terms/conditions with limited guidance from supervisors or General Counsel, unless needed. Negotiates standard and complex research agreements or subcontracts with agencies or other third parties. Ensures appropriate certifications and/or regulatory compliance approvals are obtained by faculty as required by law, institutional or sponsor policies, provides assistance as needed. Ensures sponsors receive required approval letters. Interacts with sponsors, faculty and staff to resolve legal, regulatory and institutional issues with limited supervision. Prepares Notice of Award Acceptance documents. Ensures accuracy of administrative and financial award information. Responds to sponsors, faculty or staff requests for additional information and/or clarification. Maintains required records. Handles activities such as the transfer of contractual awards, project personnel changes and administrative closeouts. Assists in training new employees. Assists management as needed with reports and special projects. Assist in conducting educational seminars/workshops for faculty and staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in business management, applied science or a related field and five years of related experience. Certified Research Administrator preferred. Strong communication (verbal and written), negotiation, problem-solving and customer service skills. Ability to synthesize and apply complex information.
