*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Coordinates and directly supervises the work of master police officers, police officers, and security officers. Analyzes physical security requirements. Investigates incidents and/or criminal activity. Drafts warrants and affidavits, interviews suspects and witnesses, secures evidence, makes arrests and carries out other investigative duties. Initiates, executes or coordinates electronic and physical surveillance. Coordinates law enforcement activity with field supervisors and officers of local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and emergency medical services. May act as the senior official on-the-scene during after hours emergencies. Obtains and serves warrants, supervises crime scenes, and determines appropriate courses of action in situations in which lives and property may be threatened. Reports incidents/situations which may impact the organization to the appropriate management. May develop and conduct crime prevention programs for various audiences. May conduct physical security surveys, participate in safety programs, gather statistical information and participate in community education programs. May supervise the Police Communications Unit. Assists in training staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of law enforcement experience with arrest authority required. Current certification by Georgia P.O.S.T. as a peace officer, or the ability to obtain certification within six months. Able to meet background requirements, including a criminal history check. Insurable driving record and a valid Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with a handgun and other required weapons.
