JOB DESCRIPTION: Develops, implements and maintains comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and programs to support operations within Emory University and to comply with applicable laws and regulations. Ensures that EHS programs under their responsibility are in line with the department and university's vision and are integrated with, fully cooperative and in harmony with the other programs within the Environmental Health and Safety Office. Serves as a professional resource on EHS issues. Frequent interaction and information sharing with other Assistant Directors/Managers is essential. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree or higher in environmental engineering, public health, occupational health and safety or other appropriate science-related field of study (i.e. chemistry) required. Seven years experience in management of EHS professional and technical staff or equivalent. Professional Board Certification preferred. Examples include: CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CHP (Certified Health Physicist), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), BSP (Biosafety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), PE (Professional Engineer), etc. Equivalent combination of experience, education and training is accepted. |
