*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Fabricates, repairs and modifies animal caging. Replaces and maintains chain link fabric wire mesh and chain link fencing. Repairs cage locks, door rollers, and hinges. Fabricates special research equipment, custom cabinetry and shelving. Modifies animal housing to meet regulatory requirements. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches and schematic drawings. Abides by and monitors staff compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Uses personal protective equipment as required. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent. Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of a research facility, research or general equipment or a machine shop.
