JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the PhD, RD Principal Investigator (PI) The Genetic Metabolic Dietitian Fellow helps develop and conduct research within the field of inherited metabolic disorders while receiving advanced training designed to enhance professional skills, clinical, research, and education independence needed for pursuit of a career in nutrition. Designs and evaluate clinical, research, and education projects. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Identifies problems, collects data, and assists with preparing and publishing manuscripts, posters, and oral presentations for new knowledge under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Provides nutrition counseling to patients and caregivers based on identified needs. Makes appropriate use of available education materials. Assists with development of educational materials for professionals and patients. Supports teaching of dietetic students, genetic counseling students, and medical students in both face-to-face and online classroom environments. Performs related responsibilities as required. The fellowship duration is minimum 24 months and terminates upon the completion of defined endpoints with no guarantee of employment thereafter.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in related field and graduate of accredited dietetic program. Completion of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics approved dietetic internship program. Registered with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Licensed as a dietitian in the State of Georgia.
