*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of a Research Pharmacist, prepares, compounds, and distributes drugs issued by the Investigational Drug Service (IDS) for ongoing research studies. Must be fully trained and demonstrate competence in all job responsibilities defined by the Research Pharmacy Technician II position. Orders drugs from sponsors that are not managed by IXRS systems. Scans protocol-specific documentation in Vestigo to include communication with sponsor, documentation of drugs returned to sponsor and certifies scans. Orders drugs and maintains inventory for NCI and Cooperative Group studies, including processing expired drugs and drugs for return following study closure. Conducts cycle counts and tracks study drugs for expiration dating. Assists in maintaining IRB renewals in Vestigo. Insures IV hoods are cleaned and maintained daily, drug storage temperatures are checked and data is recorded in SIMPLIFI. Performs aseptic technique assessments for staff and maintains documentation. Maintains equipment documentation and works with vendors to ensure equipment is maintained and certified. Coordinates reporting onsite temperature excursions to sponsors. Assists with orientation and training new technician staff on required job responsibilities. Assists other Research Technicians in carrying out their duties and providing organizational and technical support to less experienced technicians. Assists with monitor visits and completes other related tasks. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year experience at Emory as Research Pharmacy Technician I or equivalent external experience. Current CPhT Certification and registration in the state of Georgia are required. Must maintain certifications and registration during entire length of employment.
