JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general direction assists the operations manager in managing a comprehensive animal care program that maintains proper housing, sanitation, nourishment, environmental conditions and humane handling for a large and diverse population of laboratory animals. Participates in the recruiting, hiring and orientation of new employees. Leads, supports and evaluates managerial and supervisory staff. Supervises animal care staff directly or indirectly as appropriate. Trains animal care staff on standard operating procedures and coordinates or conducts continuing education and technical development activities. Participates in the managing and directing of facility maintenance and services to ensure efficient operation in compliance with federal and organizational regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience which includes four years of laboratory animal care experience and three years of supervisor or training experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
