JOB DESCRIPTION: Implements, operates, and participates in simulation activities to guarantee a high quality, safe, and consistent simulation experience in the Emory Nursing Learning Center (ENLC). Assists the Simulation Operations Specialist with data collection as it pertains to departmental tracking and reporting needs. Assists in the purchasing of supplies, equipment and materials. Maintains records of repairs, warranty dates and catalogs a resource manual for equipment. Participates in special projects and initiatives. Provides technical assistance, support and training to faculty, instructors and staff in the use of simulation equipment and simulators. Trains colleagues on learning software management.
Responsible for the preparation, setup, and disassembly of the necessary equipment and supplies for each activity. Provides direct support to the ENLC inventory system by ensuring that the inventory system is kept up to date with our current offerings and inventory on hand. Communicates with the operations director regarding low stock and verifying supply counts for equipment. Leads the daily restocking process for all 'on hand' supplies housed in each of the learning spaces. Identifies the need for any item additions to the supply carts, or additional on hand supply areas related to specific tasks or procedures. Provides daily upkeep and maintenance of equipment and learning spaces. Provides support and backup in operating simulation equipment or the simulation capture system during the activity. Maintains excellent customer service skills and effective communications with all clientele and co-workers. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, or health-related field, or other related field, and two years of related work experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Previous experience in simulation lab is preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This position is located within a simulated clinical environment. Frequent walking throughout a 30,000-square-foot simulation center spanning five floors (elevator access available). Frequent standing, sitting, and walking throughout the building. Push, pull, and move carts, equipment, tables, chairs, and other simulation materials. Reach above shoulder level to access supplies. Operate computers, tablets, audiovisual, and clinical simulation technology. Work in a simulated clinical environment with hospital beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, and other medical equipment. Safely position and transfer simulation manikins weighing up to 135 pounds using proper body mechanics and available assistance as needed. |
