*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision of the Paint Shop Supervisor, this position is responsible for and/or leads and assigns work to a crew of painters and plaster/drywall finishers. Oversees various projects to include industrial, commercial, and residential type painting, refinishing, and spraying to structures, furnishings, surfaces, equipment, parking areas also identify future paint projects around campus. Consults with customers, assists with retrieving paint specs, approves material requests, and assists with managing contractors. Oversees project management. Provides training and coaching for new paint shop employees. Assists in the supervision/operation of the paint shop and related personnel, as directed. Prepares, schedules, and inspects work performance of departmental personnel, as assigned. Selects, mixes, tints, and blends paint to match existing colors from Campus Services Paint Shop database. May roll, brush, or spray paint onto exterior or interior surfaces of buildings and structures, as required. May hang wallpaper. Orders necessary paint supplies, including tools required for paint requests and manages inventory of all supplies. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent, and six years of related experience as a painter/drywall finisher. Demonstrated skills leading a team of plaster / drywall finishers and/or painters. Ability to use painting tools and associated equipment to include mixing paint. Previous experience to include matching paint samples to existing colors. Position may require the ability to bend, stoop, twist, climb ladders, use aerial lift, climb scaffolding, and lift 50 pounds. Proficiency with various personal computer software applications. Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Must satisfactorily pass a Medical Respiratory Clearance Test and a Respirator Fit Test prior to beginning work and on an annual basis. A valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record.
