JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides assistance to faculty, staff and Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) personnel in reviewing, drafting and managing various contracts and agreements pertaining to intellectual property and academic research. Drafts, negotiates and finalizes with minimal oversight confidential disclosure agreements, research collaboration agreements and material and software evaluation/use agreements with corporate and nonprofit entities. Provides contracting support with direction from OTT licensing professionals through the preparation of various agreements including royalty sharing agreements, license agreements for research tools and amendments to existing agreements. Works with the Office of Sponsored Programs as directed to review and draft intellectual property language in sponsored research and grant award agreements with companies and not-for-profit foundations. Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of the material transfer agreement (MTA) program. Reviews, negotiates and finalizes all incoming and outgoing MTAs. Interacts extensively and independently with faculty and staff, as well as representatives of academic and commercial organizations, to ensure MTA compliance. Oversees the MTA-related duties of supporting OTT administrative staff, and ensures the completeness and accuracy of records of all MTA activities. Prepares periodic reports as requested. Provides support to licensing professionals on technology management and licensing matters as assigned. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a science discipline, and two years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, preferably in the area of research administration and/or technology licensing preferred.
