*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs standard procedures which may involve the use of instruments, chemicals, solutions, laboratory animals, and related equipment. Collects, prepares, cleans, and stores glassware; operates autoclave to sterilize glassware. Cleans, sets-up and stores equipment. Assists in library searches and report writing. Prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions, and stains according to special requirements. Performs routine laboratory tests and research experiment procedures. Assists research personnel with more complex experiments/procedures. Stocks laboratory solutions. Maintains required record-keeping. May work with small animals including monitoring, data collection, care taking, and surgery preparation and participation. May collect blood and urine samples from research subjects; labels specimens and prepares them for testing or mailing. May perform darkroom activities. Performs related responsibilities as required. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent. Three years of laboratory experience.
