JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports Emerging Infections Program (EIP) surveillance program and special studies in the School of Medicine at Emory University to ensure high-quality epidemiologic data acquisition and quality procedures. Manages one or more specific EIP program areas but will also provide general EIP support. Collects epidemiologic data through laboratory audit and medical record reviews in multiple health systems. Enters, manages, and cleans surveillance and study data in databases such as REDCap, SendSS, etc. Analyzes data in software packages such as SAS or R. Produces data, reports, and presentations for external partners, as well as for internal use. Retrieves, transports, and accessions packaged laboratory specimens. Communicates with healthcare facilities to collect and verify epidemiologic information and specimens. Conducts telephone interviews and supports special studies. Will act as an independent lead on at least one significant activity in a project area involving establishing workflow, updating documentation, assigning tasks, communicating with partners (as needed), data management, and data analysis and dissemination. Complies with all ethical guidelines for scientific and human subjects' research. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Public Health or related field from an accredited school. Epidemiology specialty preferred OR Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program with three or more years of direct experience conducting infectious disease surveillance and epidemiologic analyses, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. |
