*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Patrols facilities and property of The Carter Center, making observations to prevent or detect unauthorized persons or activities and unsafe conditions. Maintains visibility to deter criminal activity, and reports violations to law enforcement personnel. May administer first aid or CPR in emergency situations. Follows organizational guidelines in reporting security related information and is responsible for performing shift Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as applicable. Required to work varying shifts and may be required to work some overtime. Reports to Senior Security Officer. Key Responsibilities Access Control: Controls access to ensure security and verifies the admittance of authorized individuals to buildings of The Carter Center. Patrol: Ensures building and grounds security by performing regular scan patrols, unarmed foot patrols, and observing any unusual sign of disturbance or activity. Responsible to perform physical checks of applicable doors and entrance ways as required in shift SOP. CCTV Monitoring: When not on patrol or posted for an event, security officer remains alert and monitors all cameras to detect any suspicious activity and to maintain an awareness of situations on the property. Emergency Response: Responds to fire alarms, intrusion alarms, hazards and other security situations while on patrol. Uses good judgment to report suspicious activity warranting attention to the appropriate authorities. First Aid: Contacts emergency medical personnel in emergency situations. May administer first aid or CPR/AED in emergency situations providing stabilization until the arrival of emergency personnel. Reporting: Responsible for writing accurate and factual incident or situation reports according to established format to ensure effective communication. Communicates with Library security officers as required in the SOP. Safety: Ensures a safe work environment. Takes precautions as situations warrant. Makes appropriate notifications of unsafe conditions to Security Manager and Facility Manager. Responsible in inclement weather to place ice melt on entrances and stairs. Events: Assists with parking and security during events and provides visitors with directions and information. Responsible for being visible as required during events both inside and outside of the building. Provide shuttle service in the parking lot with security golf cart. Maintains post in the parking lot to direct visitors and guests of the Center. Escort/Assistance: Provides escorts when requested to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. Provides motorist and visitor assistance to individuals encountering problems on Carter Center property. Quality Control: Makes recommendations for changes in safety and security procedures to the Security Manager in order to maintain a high quality of security services. Uniform: Responsible to be in uniform while on duty as a Security Officer of The Carter Center. Policies & Procedures: Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures. Coordinates efficient office procedures in support of program activities. Professional Development: Maintains professional growth and development of self by identifying educational/training programs, professional organizations, activities and resources to maintain knowledge of national trends and to promote leading edge expertise. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent, and one year of military or security experience. Ability to exercise physical restraint. Requires a valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record.
