JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for providing academic advising to students at Emory Law as their primary source of academic advising and planning. Assists students in creating an academic plan and course selection based on interests and experiences. Assists in law school registration and cross-school class registration. Provides student support in both academic and personal capacities. Refers students to appropriate law school and campus resources if necessary. Monitors academic progress for part-time and off-site students. Provides appropriate support and problem-solving as the primary point of assistance in accessing institutional resources. Advises graduate student life groups in coordination with Student Life. Develops communications and manages a complex customer relations management (CRM) system for students. Assists, teaches, and mentors in Orientation, Residency, and Assessment programs. Participates in departmental strategic planning and implementing the strategic plan. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Juris Doctor or Juris Master degree from an ABA-Accredited law school, OR a master's degree and seven years of experience advising law students in the United States. Experience advising international students, including cross-cultural training and/or experience with executive educational programs and mid- to late-career students. Experience with complex databases, CRMs, and student information systems. |
