JOB DESCRIPTION: Oversees and leads undergraduate or graduate degree programs. Primary administrative liaison between department and the Office for Undergraduate Education. Advises students on major and graduation requirements; suggests alternatives they may not have considered. Provides counseling and guidance in the scheduling of appropriate course work. Responds to inquiries and complaints from faculty and students which requires interpretation of policies and procedures. Responds to curriculum related complaints. Investigates student concerns and independently advances appropriate course of action.
Serves as the primary contact for faculty and students concerning practical implementation of educational policy and procedures; may recommend educational policy change. May oversee course scheduling. Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding degree requirements. Advises department chair and director regarding policies and procedures. Administers student online registration, tracks students' progress toward the degree, and verifies requirements have been completed. Manages one or more academic programs, evaluates program data and prepares publications. Researches, compiles data, and writes reports for accreditation purposes. Initiates and conducts assessments, gathers and interprets the data, produces reports and advances solutions to support the success of the program.
Monitors and reconciles program budget and approves expenditures. May oversee the disbursement of student stipends and grant awards. May hire, train, and supervise student assistants, and monitor time and attendance. May supervise staff supporting academic advising including other academic advisors. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in a field related to the department's or program's area of specialty or a related field and five years of experience in student admissions, financial aid, registration or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. |
