A Guide to Paying for College: Savings, Loans, Grants, Scholarships & Financial Aid

The college landscape has changed drastically in the last 20 years and costs have shot beyond inflation with little end in sight. This session is designed to help families understand the dictionary of terms that they will encounter when exploring how to finance college and help them try to navigate the financial aid process for their high school aged child. Accessibility, along with a discussion about the differences between grants, scholarships, and loans will be covered. The session will be led by Erik Lips, Senior Assistant Director in the Office of Financial Aid at Emory University. He will work to demystify the financial aid process, inform families of current trends in both admission and financial aid, as well as provide a host of resources that will empower families to see beyond the sticker price and seek the college that is not only a great fit academically, but financially.
