JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for post award processing of grants and contracts. Serves as a lead technical expert in sponsored research accounting. Supervises 2 or more full-time professional staff and provides guidance in day-to-day tasks and assignments; monitors work loads of staff;. Assists in developing policies and procedures for research accounting practices; routinely provides policy and procedure interpretation to academic departments and assists in the preparation of reports to federal and sponsoring agencies. Duties involve reviewing contracts, updating database records, creating and maintaining grant and contract files, preparing invoices, monitoring accounts receivable and deliverable reports, developing queries and reports on the financial system, working with the division business managers to resolve contractual issues, communicating with sponsors, ensuring compliance with contract regulations and reporting requirements, and closing out contracts. Works closely with Sponsored Programs office, divisional business office to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements to which grants and contracts are subject May supervise professional staff. This is a central job, reporting to the Office of Grants & Contracts Accounting (OGCA).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and 7 years professional accounting experience, preferably in research accounting. Masters in Business Administration and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. DATE CREATED/MODIFIED/REVIEWED: 05/23/06 AMM
