*This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.

JOB DESCRIPTION: **This is a central university office position** Assists with voice, data and wireless engineering for Emory Enterprise communications systems. Supports the configuration, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network services and devices. Interacts with customers and project teams to assist with network infrastructure designs, expansions and configurations. Interacts with users to explain and clarify communications systems technical issues for meeting business needs. Provides 24 x 7 on-call support to assist with restoring service. Contributes to documentation and diagrams of engineered solutions to ensure records of work performed are maintained. Assists with code upgrades to ensure software is up-to-date, install patches for system glitches and to upgrade equipment functionality. Inspects network equipment and equipment rooms to prevent environment-related issues and hardware failures. Performs equipment refreshes to provide sufficient customer capacity. Prepares basic scripts for monitoring equipment to provide accurate reporting and automation for troubleshooting. Assists with new switching equipment installs to meet system needs and growth demands. Supports legacy equipment upgrades to ensure communications systems are up-to-date, reliable and current with the latest technology. Assists with fiber, trunks and circuit installs to provide connectivity to new sites and systems. Supports voice and data applications installations to ensure communication services function as designed. Documents upgrades and installs to ensure activities details are accurately recorded. Responds to systems failures and alarms to ensure problems and errors are repaired and service level expectations are met. Monitors voice, data and wireless systems to ensure alerts and applications function properly. Participates in 24 x 7 incident response to ensure systems functionality and availability. Provides Technical Operations Center support to fulfill requests and to ensure network uptime. Performs related responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and two years of relevant IT experience in network engineering, PC hardware support, network server administration, voice technology engineering, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
