*This is an Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid a salary on a monthly basis and are not eligible to receive overtime pay.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Creates, maintains and enhances the relationship between alumni and the university and among alumni themselves. Directs professional staff in coordinating alumni events both locally and nationally. Plans and develops communication methods directed at alumni on an on-going basis. Plans and directs annual events to strengthen ties with University alumni, such as class reunions, alumni club events, alumni academic programs and academic travel program. Recruits, cultivates and provides direction to volunteer leadership at the executive level. Contacts faculty and administrators to speak at events and makes arrangements for guest speakers when necessary. Supervises clerical and professional staff. May provide input into preparing and monitoring the department's budget to ensure compliance within the fiscal constraints. Actively participates in alumni related committees. Identifies communication methodologies and develops materials for these cited vehicles. Maintains and audits records and files on alumni related information. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in public relations or related field. Four years of alumni relations, event planning, public relations or other related experience. Effective public speaking skills. DATE CREATED/MODIFIED/REVIEWED: 03/10/10 DRS
